Cox Colleges Set New Milestone

2008 Cox Colleges have certainly made inroads into marketing our products and services. The college events this year have expanded our relationships withCox College Brooks customers as well as set the stage for continuing business partnerships.

Cox College is the brainchild of Mikee Johnson, CEO of Cox Industries. Mikee wanted to expand the traditional product knowledge seminar. Throughout our history, the Cox sales force has done excellent presentations at customer locations and conducted customer visits with plant tours. Mikee wanted to raise the bar on these events…thus the birth of Cox College. Over the past 18 months, each Cox College has gotten better and better. We sought and accepted feedback for each event and shaped the curriculum to the current standard of excellence.

Cox College also took wings in 2008 making several road trips to Brooks Building Supply in Raleigh, NC; Mountain Lumber in Boone, NC; Builder’s Express in Mars Hill, NC; and most recently the Electrical Cooperatives of North Carolina (TEMA) in Raleigh, NC.

The TEMA Cox College in Raleigh was the first Industrial Cox College to hit the road.  Fifty (50) class participants profited from presentations by industry experts while the Cox cook team challenged 40 mph storm winds to provide lunch. The event was so well received we’ve been invited back for an encore.

The October 7-8 Residential Cox College held at Cox Wood in Orangeburg, SC broke all records. We hit a perfect score with our customers; I’m still receiving positive emails.

Cox College TEMAThe next Cox College is set for November 18-19 at Carolina Pole in Leland, NC and will focus on foundation and marine piling contractors.

Looking to the future…Cox College is to break new ground in 2009 by becoming Cox University. We are ‘stepping it up’ to provide even greater services to our customers. In the difficult economic times, our customers need a support structure to lean upon. Cox University will provide more learning opportunities for customers in areas such as strategic planning, communication methods, leadership, problem solving tools, facilitated retreats and much more. By providing these expanded services we help our customers succeed, which in turn helps us to succeed.

Cox Industries is setting a new standard of excellence…we see the future.
